Reelcraft DGM Series Bidding Specifications
The Reelcraft DGM series hose reels shall be a spring
retractable, hose storage reel, encased in an
underground enclosure. The entire device shall be
installed underground, with the working opening exposed
at grade level. The reel shall be industrial quality,
with a minimum working pressure of 250 psi. The inlet
connection shall include a 3 foot length of ¾” PVC hose,
with a ¾” – 14 NPT male threaded fitting. The usable
hose above ground shall be ____ diameter and ____ long.
The opening at grade level shall be 6” diameter and
include a removable lid to access the hose. The lid and
enclosure shall be able to support the weight of
standard turf care machinery. The lid shall be green in
color, and have a textured surface. The lid shall be
securely attached to the enclosure with a tab feature
that will allow easy removal during use. The enclosure
shall be constructed of suitable materials for use
underground. The enclosure and reel shall be positioned
or oriented in any direction in relation to any green,
turf area, or landscape feature. The enclosure shall be
positioned so the center axis of the reel is level
during installation.
The reel shall include a latching mechanism to prevent
the hose from retracting while in use. The latch shall
be engaged automatically when the hose is pulled out for
use. The latch shall be released by a small pull on the
hose. The reel shall include a hose guide system that
will protect the hose from entanglement inside the
enclosure.
The reel shall be an industrial quality, spring
retractable, hose reel. The reel shall be constructed of
powder coated steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. The
power spring shall be constructed with stainless steel
material to prevent failure in a damp environment. All
components of the reel shall be able to function
properly if temporarily submerged in water.
The main hose shall be constructed of PVC, with brass
fittings crimped on the ends. The hose shall have a
minimum working pressure of 250 psi. The working end of
the hose shall have ¾”-11 ½ NPSH threads (3/4” garden
hose). A brass ball valve shall be attached to the end
of the hose. The ball valve shall be suitable to allow
the hose and reel to be continuously pressurized. The
main hose shall be attached to the reel through an
adapter hose. The adapter hose shall be long enough to
allow the main hose fittings to be pulled completely out
of the enclosure to facilitate changing the main hose.
The adapter hose shall be attached to the reel in a
manner that will prevent the latching mechanism from
engaging when the hose is fully extracted from the
enclosure. A clamp on style hose stop shall be attached
to the working end of the main hose to prevent complete
retraction into the enclosure.
The installation shall include a connection to an
irrigation water supply. Drainage shall not be required
in well drained sites. Drainage shall only be required
in installation sites which may have standing or pooling
water that may flood the enclosure, or sites with a high
water table.
The DGM system shall be developed and manufactured by an
ISO 9001 certified facility. The system shall have model
